World Clock

The current time in major cities around the world, live.

Not every time zone is a whole number of hours

It's easy to assume every city's clock differs from UTC by a whole number of hours, but several major regions don't. India runs on UTC+5:30, Newfoundland in Canada runs on UTC−3:30, and Nepal uses UTC+5:45 — genuinely a 45-minute offset, one of very few in the world. None of these are typos or rounding; they're deliberate, official choices, which is exactly why converting between some city pairs lands on an odd number like 25 or 40 minutes past the hour instead of a clean top-of-the-hour difference.

Why the gap between two cities isn't fixed year-round

The clocks on this page shift relative to each other twice a year, not because their base time zones change, but because daylight saving rules don't apply the same way everywhere. Sydney observes daylight saving in the Southern Hemisphere's summer — opposite the calendar from London or New York — so the gap between Sydney and London stretches or shrinks by an hour depending on the time of year, even though neither city's "standard" offset ever changes. Cities that don't observe daylight saving at all, including most of the ones on this list outside North America, Europe, and Australia, keep a constant offset from UTC all year, which is one less thing to account for when scheduling across them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — times are calculated using each location's current time zone rules, including daylight saving adjustments where applicable.

This list covers major global cities and isn't customizable. If you need to add specific cities, compare working hours, or find a meeting time that works across several of them, the Time Zone Planner lets you pick from a much longer list and set working hours per city.

We detect your browser's time zone automatically so you always have a reference point next to the other cities.
